When To Open Your Pool:

When choosing the right moment to open your pool, it is important to factor in unnecessary hydro/gas costs for early spring openings, and to also consider excessive algae build-up for late spring openings.

You can open your pool as soon as the ice inside the pool has melted, and the weather forecasts above freezing for the next 14 days. Also, keep in mind that it is not necessary to run the heater until you are ready to swim in the pool.

What You Need To Know and Do Before Your Pool Opening:

Pool Fittings:

  • Prior to your Pool Opening, please have all of the pool fittings (return eyeballs, skimmer basket, pressure gauge, filter plug, etc.) accessible for our technicians.

Cartridges:

  • If you have a cartridge filter, ensure that the cartridges are clean, and ready to be put back into the filter. The best way to clean your cartridges, is by rinsing them with a pressure washer.

Pool Covers:

  • Unless receiving the safety cover removal add-on, please ensure that your pool is completely uncovered, prior to your scheduled Pool Opening.

Water Level and Chemistry:

  • If your water level is either over the top of the skimmer, or below the skimmer mouth intake, you can leave it be. This does not affect the opening process. The ideal water level is halfway up the skimmer, so that once we leave, all you need to do is start balancing your water.

To start the water treatment process, our service technician will add the initial chemical kit in for you before they leave. This will allow the chemicals to circulate throughout your main drains. If your water level is above the skimmer, please do not drain the pool until at least a few hours after we have opened your pool. You can then use your main drains and pool pump to drain the additional water. The ideal water level is halfway up the skimmer mouth.Following your Pool Opening, you will need to check your water chemistry, as well as add the required salt for a saltwater pool.

Payment:

  • You can pay for your opening by credit card or by email money transfer.

If you will not be home:

  • Please ensure the pool and pool equipment are completely accessible for our technician.
  • Please ensure the basement breaker supplying electricity to the pool equipment is on.

Wireless Remote:

  • If you have a wireless remote for your lights, please leave it out for our technician to test.
